About the Lab

A field-to-formula hub for measured cooling.

The Temp°IQ™ Lab is the research arm of the platform: a place where what clinicians and athletes observe in the field becomes measured evidence, and measured evidence becomes protocol. Read deeply, follow the work, and help shape what comes next.

What it is

From the field, to the formula.

Most wearables estimate. Temp°IQ measures the heat actually removed from the body, in watts and kilojoules. The Lab is the field-to-formula hub that sits on top of that measurement: clinical observation and device data flow in from real use; structured, referenced understanding flows out.

Three programs — Heat Safety, Thermotherapy, and Cranial Cooling — share one spine: Learn · Engage · Advance. Each reads the science, routes you to the right study or tool, and turns what it learns back into the next thing to read.

Throughout, the system is descriptive, not diagnostic — it measures energy and describes patterns. Clinical judgment governs care.

EngageRoutes you to the right study or tool — the calculator, sign-ups, enrolment.
AdvanceTurns measured data into improved protocols and products.

The protocol library

Living documents, never silent edits.

The output of the work is the protocol library — a standing collection of protocols and white papers that read like a publication and version like software. Every protocol is a living document with a changelog; nothing changes quietly.

Adjudicated, never automatic

Each suggested edit carries its rationale, its evidence, and its source, and is reviewed by a named human owner before a new version is published.

A pre-specified bar

A pattern becomes a candidate edit only when it clears a defined threshold and corroborates across device data, clinician observation, and the literature. One noisy session is not an edit.

Versioned and cited

Protocols and papers carry references and a visible history, so a reader can always see what changed, why, and on what evidence.

The living lab network

The people who carry it forward.

The Lab is not a static archive — it is a living lab network of clinicians, athletic trainers, sleep specialists, researchers, engineers, and partner institutions who read the work, debate it in the forum, contribute field observation, and surface candidate protocol edits with the discipline the studies require.

Membership is by invitation or request. Each member has a way in — follow a program, take part in a study, or customize a build for the people in their care.

Governance

How the work is kept honest.

De-identified by default

Data is de-identified by default and consent-gated. Names appear only in an athletics context with consent, and never on the clinical side.

Clinician-governed

Studies are device-agnostic and clinician-governed; clinical judgment governs care. Minors require guardian consent.

Sized to the evidence

Every claim is sized to its evidence. Work in preparation is labeled as such, and forthcoming papers are attributed honestly until they are hosted in full.

Descriptive, not diagnostic

The platform measures temperature and energy and supports clinician-directed protocols; it does not diagnose or prescribe. Consumer cooling framing is non-FDA.

A note on scope. Confidential R&D material is held outside this library. What appears here is the readable, referenced layer intended for members; the regulatory line shifts with framing, and medical claims are kept to what the evidence supports.

Who runs it

Built by the Temp°IQ R&D team and collaborating investigators.

The Lab is maintained by Temp°IQ’s research team together with the investigators governing each study. It is a sister publication to the technology platform at tempiq.com.
